Based near Boston, MA, Alex directs the Fair Food Fund program. The Fair Food Fund is being developed to invest in ventures that connect small and medium-sized sustainable New England farms with the growing demand for local, sustainably-produced food. During the planning process, Alex is meeting with stakeholders  to gain a better understanding of the current challenges, needs, and opportunities in the New England food system, and he is using this input to help create the fund's business plan.

Before joining Fair Food Network in a full-time capacity, Alex spent three years as a graduate student in the University of Michigan's Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise MBA/MS program. There, Alex focused on social entrepreneurship, sustainable food systems, and marketing strategy. During his three years in graduate school, he completed numerous food systems, sustainability, and marketing consulting projects for Washtenaw Land Trust, Holy Cross Abbey, Cherry Marketing Institute, Restaurant Opportunities Center, Get Fresh Detroit, and others. In addition, he spent his summers with Fair Food Network. During the summer of 2010, he worked on a feasibility study to assess the potential for a local food aggregation hub in Southeast Michigan and on launching the Double Up Food Bucks program. During the summer of 2009, he conducted research for Fair Food Network President and CEO Oran Hesterman’s book, Fair Food: Growing A Healthy, Sustainable Food System For All. Prior to graduate school, Alex was Marketing Manager for Clivus Multrum, a leading manufacturer of composting toilet systems, based in Lawrence, MA.
